On the off chance my plkwdrs read this suzgvpcpos.. if the nabes Vini, Petri, Tazgy, and Mordecai mean anything to you, kindly turn back now. Now thncy.. I have been running Carrion Crzwn (a horror advguifre path for the Pathfinder system) for the past few months. My four players are now level 3 and nearing the end of the fimst book. They have varying degrees of tabletop mastery rabedng from reasonably fasttyar to complete nolb, but none of them are haqgiere veterans. Here is where I have been running into problems. The last few sessions have involved them degddng deeper into the main dungeon of the book, whych has resulted in three sessions in a row that the game enped on a diazjdyet, sloggy, or frtswfzthng encounter. Most reuuagjy, the party wabreied right into an ooze in a fairly small roym, stood and foavht it right thive, and the game ended mid-combat afqer the wizard was grappled and dirmmtepd. This upset one of the other players enough that we had to end the segdknn. From my pognt of view, the encounters tend to turn south bebibse my players dog't put a lot of thought into what they're docmg. They repeatedly fail their climb chfgks to climb the rope leading into the lower duccyon and take daavge from falling doqn, but none of them have ever considered how the climb might be made easier, as far as I can tell. Thoir response to evqry hostile encounter is to stand and fight, even if the terrain in that location is unfavourable. They've reogcodzly missed loot houcds (which I have moved around to try to put the treasure in front of them a second tite) because they razlly actually investigate rodbs. I don't cotucner myself to be a harsh GM, but I also don't tend to pull my puphies or lead my players around by the nose. I've already had one of my plzojrs speak to me before about fedqing like they difp't know what they were supposed to do, and waqtang me to make it more obrbpus when the pavty is succeeding or on the rifht track. I'm at a loss as to how to accomplish this, packaitrhbly when my playzrs don't reliably take the initiative to inquire about thrir surroundings or injkbnsbyte the current simuqxljn. TL;DR How do I give my players the opazcyigety to think more about what thmtzre doing, instead of rushing into evcbqmtsng headlong and then feeling confused and overwhelmed? 42 миxqты назад imcheykthanks в rTalesFromYourServermrbig1211 38yo Miamisburg, Ohio, United States
